Did you know that May is Better Hearing Month? Nearly halfway through the year, this is the perfect time to schedule a hearing test! Every May, we try to show how passionate we are about better hearing by building awareness and encouraging people to make hearing screenings a part of their yearly health checkups. How can you help? Here are a few ways you can increase the awareness of hearing loss, prevention, treatment and potential health risks associated with unaddressed hearing loss.
Learn More
The best way to spread awareness is to first understand more about hearing loss and how it develops. Many people aren’t knowledgeable about how it can affect the health and wellness of those who don’t address it. Here are a few resources to get you started.
Health Risks Associated with Hearing Loss
Hearing Loss Association of America
Hearing Industries Association
American Hearing Research Foundation
Talk to Friends and Family (Not Just the Elderly)
Even if you’ve addressed your own hearing loss and taken the necessary steps toward better hearing, you may be acquainted with people who still have reservations. If you have a friend of family member who has concerns about addressing their hearing loss, one of our recent blogs (along with David Kimbell’s short video) may help them feel more comfortable about scheduling a screening.

Promote Awareness
Once you’ve educated yourself and reached out to friends and family, there are other ways you can help promote Hearing Loss Awareness. Reach out through email if it’s more comfortable, or social media. Social media is a great way to tell people about healing health or share the positive impact hearing aids, or other hearing technologies, have had in your own life. Share a blog or article, or reach out personally to a friend to encourage them to get their annual screening. If you don’t already, you can follow us on Facebook for weekly updates and additional resources. You never know when you might change somebody’s life!
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to spread Hearing Loss Awareness and encourage people to address their hearing loss as well. Happy Better Hearing Month everybody!
